Why Social Media?
If you’re an entrepreneur, small business, or organization, social media is an essential piece of your marketing strategy. It is one of the most powerful and cost-effective methods of getting your brand in the eyes of customers! If a consumer hears about your product/service and is interested, what do you think one of the first things they are going to do? BING0 - either give you the ol’ google search or look you up on social media. Therefore, it is important to not only be on these platforms, but have an active status on them as well! I could go on about the benefits it has for small businesses, but the three I’d like to focus on today is the way it helps you connect with your customers, increase awareness of your brand, and boost your leads and sales. We will go into each of these benefits at a very high level below.
Social Media is a great avenue to connect with your customers. Almost all social media platforms today have ways that you can actively interact with your audience (through polls, asking questions, etc.) and use this valuable information to your advantage. A customer who sees that they are providing valuable input into a service/product they like = happy consumer! It also allows the customer to get a look into who you (the business owner) really is and connect with them on a personal level.
Now lets look at Social Media and how it relates to your brand. ANY opportunity you have increase your brand visibility is valuable. It makes it easier for potential customers to find you and for current clients to get a closer look at what you’re up to. Not only that, but having your business on social media, gives your customers the opportunity to share their recent experience from your business and tag you which in turn creates brand awareness and new followers.
Every time you post about a service/product you offer is an opportunity for a sale. It doesn’t matter if its a 2 sentence post, an image, a video, a blog post, or an instagram story… any post is an opportunity for someone to click on that post, which could lead to your website, which could lead to an e-mail/call, which could lead to a sale.
In closing, if you’re a business owner and not taking advantage of social media, you’re missing out. It is a fast, inexpensive and effective way to reach your target audience and is not something that should be overlooked! If you’re just starting out and have not sure where to begin or you’ve been around for a while and need a push in the right direction; I’d love to help!
